CHICAGO – Leadership is on America’s mind as it searches for its next president. And, here in Chicago we know great leaders begin at home, in the neighborhoods. That is why Neighborhood Housing Services of Chicago (NHS) will present awards at its Annual Awards Dinner this Wednesday, March 16th to three individuals whose work has made a real impact in communities around the Chicago area.
Chicago Treasurer Kurt Summers and Development and Mike Rodriguez, former Executive Director of Enlace and current candidate for 22nd Ward Committeeman, will be presented with Community Impact Awards and Aurie Pennick, Executive Director of the Field Foundation of Illinois, will be presented with the Gale Cincotta Community Visionary Award.
“Our three awardees have demonstrated their commitment to a shared vision for dynamic neighborhoods through their work revitalizing low-to-moderate income neighborhoods across the Chicago area” said NHS President Kristin Faust. “Whether through their leadership at the City of Chicago; their ability to bring people together; or their support of area nonprofits – our city and region are richer because of their work.”
More than 600 people are expected to attend NHS’ Annual Awards Dinner, which will be held at The Geraghty in Pilsen. The event will raise more than $500,000 to support NHS’s mission of helping Chicago area residents buy, fix and keep their homes. This year marks the 41st Anniversary of NHS. The theme for the evening is “Sharing a Vision for Dynamic Neighborhoods.”
