Linda Hepner, Surrey Safe with Maninder Gill’s Conviction-NRI’s, Indo-Canadians.

By Sarah

Surrey BC Jassi Gill. On August 28,2010, Gill shot Harjit Atwal in the grounds of Guru Nanak Sikh Temple, Surrey BC. Canada. After 6 years of long trial Radio India Managing Director Maninder Gill, was sentenced to 4 years in prison.

Justice Kenneth Ball granted the request for minimum sentence as demanded by the Defence Lawyers. Surrey has seen an increase in crime and ” shooting incidents”, since 2010. Radio India attributed a negative effect on Indo-Canadians and Non Resident Indians, as it was deemed an illegal radio station, operating in British Columbia, Canada, under CRTC Regulations. Radio India was banned by CRTC in 2014, on the complaints of CKYE RED FM 93.1, run by South Asian Broadcasting, among other complainants.

Maninder Gill, supported the “Surrey First”, slate for last 3 consecutive terms, among Indo-Canadians. Former NDP M.P.Jinny Simms , who is planning a Provincial run in 2017, awarded him the Queens Jubilee Medal, in recognition for his personal support to her, during her campaign. Judge Kenneth Ball, read support letters from Guru Nanak Sikh Temple, Surrey in favor of Maninder Gill, an important document in reducing his sentence as a convict.

Questions are being raised in World Sikh Organization, Sikh Temples across Canada, how the Religious Non Profit Associations are violating their SIKH-principles in issuing such Letters. Complaints have been forwarded to CRA, against Guru Nanak Sikh Temple, of violating its Non-Profit status.”Surrey is a bit safe Now, said Harjit Atwal, RCMP could not recover the Shooting Gun and he was connected with 2 Shootings in Surrey”. I thank judge Kenneth Ball for granting me Justice and making Surrey safe., said Atwal. There is strong satisfaction in NRI’s of Surrey, but some reacted “Judge Kenneth Ball was too lenient in Sentencing, he should have been awarded the maximum of 15 Years”, for his lies to Canadian Justice system, said Amrik Dhaliwal.
