Hastings & Hastings Speaks on Saint Patrick’s Day Safety

By Sarah

Saint Patrick’s Day falls on Thursday, March 17th. Traditionally, Saint Patrick’s Day is a celebration of Irish heritage and culture. It is a celebration of Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. It became an official Christian feast day in the early 17th century and was adopted as an official public holiday in Ireland in 1903. Since then, Saint Patrick’s Day has spread throughout the world. It is celebrated everywhere from Ireland to Japan, to Switzerland. Hastings & Hastings proudly support the celebration of Saint Patrick’s Day while speaking upon specific safety concerns which should be considered while celebrating.

Saint Patrick’s Day is commonly celebrated by feasting, eating, drinking, and throwing parades. Whenever there are large gatherings of people there are safety concerns that need to be addressed. Hastings & Hastings advises attending any large public event with friends. It is best to stick together for the duration of the event. It is best to arrange a meeting spot and establish set meeting times should the group become separated.

Alcoholic beverages are frequently consumed as part of celebrating Saint Patrick’s Day. Alcohol should always be consumed responsibly and in moderation. Hastings & Hastings notes planning ahead for transportation on Saint Patrick’s Day. If individuals are planning on consuming alcoholic beverages, they must find an alternative mode of transportation home. Designated drivers save lives. Taxis should be utilized, in addition to services such as Uber or Lyft.

Hastings & Hastings cautions drivers. It is possible that some individuals will decline to practice safe driving habits on Saint Patrick’s Day. For this reason, it is important to be extra cautious while driving. Hastings & Hastings advises following the tenets of defensive driving. If individuals notice another driving behaving erratically, that vehicle should be avoided at all costs. Contact the authorities regarding any suspicious activity.

“I hope everyone has a fantastic time on Saint Patrick’s Day while making sure to stay safe. Enjoy some corned beef and cabbage and a good green beer, while celebrating Irish culture and heritage. There is no reason everyone can’t have fun while staying responsible,” said David Hastings, the founder of Hastings & Hastings.
