Construction of the new campus was first proposed in 2009. However, it was not until 2012 that the City of Phoenix supplied the requisite land at the cost of $12 million. Two years later, in 2014, the Arizona Board of Regents approved the construction plans. Ground breaking took place shortly after. The project was primarily funded through construction bonds with the remaining amount provided through generous alumni gifts, and donations from members of the legal community. Construction of the building went smoothly, and two years later, Arizona State University announced the date of the Grand Opening.
The Arizona Center for Law and Society promises to inject new life into downtown Phoenix and the greater Arizona legal community.
“It is fantastic to see the culmination of such an ambitious project. While I did graduate from the James E. Rogers College of Law in Tucson, I still proudly support our local Arizona State University. The Arizona Center for Law and Society aim to be not just a school, but a center of legal education. That is somethings we here at Hastings & Hastings support in full,” said David Hastings, the founder of Hastings & Hastings.
