Calgary, Alberta (May 31, 2016) – Jump Studios Ltd. is pleased to announce they have won three New York Festivals Awards. The awards were announced at the 2016 NAB (National Association of Broadcasters) Show in Las Vegas, Nevada and celebrate the best in television and film.
Words Hurt won gold for Best Editing. This thought provoking feature for ESPN’s 2015 Special Olympics broadcast asks people to look at their use of “the R-word.” Creative Director, Jeff August, says, “This feature is close to our hearts. We’re extremely proud to have not only won this award but also to have made people think about how their words have the potential to hurt.”
ESPN’s IndyCar tease, Dual in Detroit, took home silver in the same category. “There’s nothing like quick cuts and killer music to make a viewer sit up and take notice. That’s what this tease does in under a minute thirty. It’s fast just like the cars,” says August.
Jump Studios redesigned ESPN’s Grand Slam Tennis broadcast package in 2015 starting with the U.S. Open Design Package. It won silver in the Best Animation category. “We took the fluid movements of tennis players and translated those into liquid glass ribbons that float across the screen. It really is a stunning package,” says August.
“Our entire team works diligently to create the best products for our clients,” says Executive Producer, Brian Vos. “We collaborate with each other and our clients to push boundaries and make outstanding television. To have our work judged by our peers and be deemed as some of the best is an honor.”
Submissions to the New York Festivals are made from more than 50 countries. The jury is made up from dozens of award winning industry professionals from around the world.
