Los Angeles, CA (February 2nd, 2016) – Bear Grylls Ventures (BGV) announced today that with the help of Aquacai they are donating over 200,000 1-liter bottles of water to the amazing people of Flint, Michigan.
Delbert Shoopman (Head of Production at BGV) who’s from Athens, Michigan with family in the Flint area was shocked to learn about the current catastrophic situation. Delbert immediately contacted Bear Grylls the world-renowned adventurer and humanitarian to help with the situation.
“Bear is always one of the kindest people I know and to have him help leverage his celebrity to help the citizens of Flint is typically generous.” stated Shoopman.
Bear then reached out to Michael Horth, CEO and President of Aquacai Water, about his desire to help deliver water to the residents of Flint. From that point Aquacai committed to helping out Bear and Delbert’s wishes instantly.
Grylls and Shoopman who most recently worked with President Barak Obama on a climate change special for NBC hope that the water will reach the Flint area this week. Once delivered it will begin the distribution process to those who need it most for drinking, cooking and washing. The water will go directly to community centers, food banks and firehouses focusing in on low income housing areas where 40% of Flint’s population is living below the poverty line.
“We have been so moved by the courage of the people of Flint and are proud to help in some small way to get them through this crisis,” said Bear Grylls. “Together with Aquacai, we hope to raise the awareness that everyone should have access to clean water.”
“I’m a passionate believer in that everyone needs access to clean water and I hope our donation of water helps the city of Flint get back on their feet and keep fighting the good fight” said Horth.

About Aquacai
AQUAÇAI is natural artesian water bottled at source and extracted from an aquifer deep below the forest surface, located at La Valdeza de Capira in the Republic of Panama. This water naturally absorbs minerals by slowly filtering through volcanic rocks and is bottled without direct human contact.
AQUAÇAI leads by example. Bigger than just water, over the past seven years, they have planted more than 400,000 native trees, flowers, plants and shrubs with the help of the Smithsonian and ANAM (the Panama National Authority of the Environment). Similarly, they have supported their local communities by building a bridge to help students cross the stream during annual floods and supported Doctors Without Borders by flying medical teams to Panama to vaccinate hundreds of children. AQUAÇAI has also lent a hand to those in need throughout the world. Just days before Hurricane Sandy in 2012, they shipped 60 tons of water to the NY/NJ area for their East Coast launch. But after the storm hit, they helped the community by distributing water to disaster victims directly. Additionally, they donated water to relief efforts for victims of the earthquakes in Japan, Haiti and Philippines. Today, they support the Colorectal Cancer Foundation and will continue to share their resources with those who need it most. AQUAÇAI hopes their vision of making change and social responsibility can inspire others to make a difference and help improve people’s lives one bottle at a time.
