A Unique Holiday gift that would make any kid and Grinch smile.

By Sarah

Yes, your child actually flying from a trapeze. The art of trapeze was invented in 1859 by a Frenchman named Jules Leotard, who connected a bar to some ventilator cords above the swimming pool in his father’s gymnasium in Toulouse, France. After practicing tricks above the pool, Leotard performed his act in the Cirque Napoleon (now known as the Cirque d’hiver). The traditional flier’s costume, the leotard, is named after him.

Now your kid can throw on a leotard (optional of course) too, during Camp Pillsbury “summer of a lifetime” experience in Owatonna, MN, located 45 minutes south of Minneapolis.

Maybe the thought of your child being tossed and flying through the air leaves you feeling nauseous? Maybe now at your age it does, but think back to your school days and summer breaks.  What would’ve you given to for trapeze, circus arts or lessons in, extreme sports, magic, acting, singing, dancing, sports, equestrian riding lessons or archery lessons?

Camp Pillsbury, the unique sleep over camp in Minnesota, is America’s premier performing arts summer camp, helping tomorrow’s leaders from all over the world to be successful through programs led by experts and entertainment industry professionals in a traditional camp environment. Born from founder Vonda White’s idea “to give kids an experience they love and break through life long beliefs of low self-esteem or hardships,  the 19 acre boarding school campus of Pillsbury College Prep becomes Camp Pillsbury for the purpose of enriching your kid’s childhood, instilling skills and building world-wide friendships in a overnight summer camp.

A brief list of courses your kid could grab-hold of this summer include:

  • Circus Arts
  • Performing Arts/Theater
  • Technology/Digital Arts & Multimedia
  • Extreme Sports
  • Sports
  • Water Sports
  • Equestrian
  • Academics
  • And much more!

Every day the children are receiving 6 hours of instruction.   At the end of every two week session, campers show off their abilities and talents to their parents and the local community.

Edie, a parent who sent their child to camp this past summer, had this to say: “Camp Pillsbury was an unexpected wonderful experience for my 13 year old daughter.  She was enrolled for one 2015 summer session and then we signed her up for 2 additional sessions when we saw how much her confidence soared.  The guitar and voice lessons gave her such a solid foundation.  She is continuing to master new songs on her own…fun to watch.  She is excited to return summer 2016.”

Now, let’s get a leotard snapped on Junior and get him flying on that trapeze.
