Shannon is a native of Scranton, Pennsylvania. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Scranton with a B.S. in International Studies in 1996 and cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center in 2001, where she served as an Articles Editor for the Georgetown Law Journal. She worked for the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Education and the Workforce from 1997-1999 and worked as Special Counsel to the Kerry/Edwards campaign in Pennsylvania in 2004. She completed a judicial clerkship in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York and currently practices corporate litigation at the New York law firm of Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle, LLP.
