Welcome! At Damsels In Success, we're seeking to generate a movement among women,
and we are excited you're here to share the dream.
In 2008, life is complicated for women, figuring out how to make our professional
dreams and ambitions come true amidst all the other complexities. Women have changed
over the decades, and balancing our often competing identities is a huge challenge.
But, although women have changed, we at Damsels think it's strange that content
created for us (and, in many cases, by us) has not.
Think about it...
How often do you come across an article that speaks to you about your professional
life? That understands the issues you confront as a single woman, mother or wife,
and then provides insight about how to achieve your professional ambitions and manage
your professional life in the context of those issues? How often do you feel the
support of kindred women? It's rare, and the fact that such content is not produced
speaks volumes about how much our achievements as professional women are valued,
not to mention our contributions as mothers, wives, girlfriends, sisters, and daughters.
At Damsels, we agree with the popular notion that, in order to grow something, you
have to give it attention. And we want to put the spotlight on YOU... Your fascinating
stories, your valuable insights, your ambitious dreams. When you visit Damsels In
Success, you should feel that you are in the company of women who listen and share.
A Damsels woman is one who wants to hear others' perspective on the professional
situations that women have all experienced or witnessed, and she is one who has
her own enlightening and curious perspective to share. At the very least, participating
in Damsels In Success should be a fun conversation. But we hope it is much more...
We hope Damsels In Success is transformative.
So, please meet the Damsels who are members of the Forum, read their stories, tell
them what you think, and consider joining the Forum yourself. In the Your Stories
section, share your own stories and insights on topics that affect all of us. And
meet Dr. Debra Condren, our resident expert on all things professional -- she'll
teach us that ambition is not a dirty word -- it's the thing that drives us to make
a contribution to the world, and that's something we should never be ashamed of.
If, after the inspiration, you're encouraged toward a new professional role, we
invite you to use the Job Board to connect with high caliber employers who are dedicated
to adding professional women to their teams. In this section, when you click on
the logo of some of the employers featured under our "Employers Who Support the
Advancement of Women" banner, you'll be able to read about the employer's policies
on diversity, maternity leave, flex time, sexual harassment, etc.
Soon, we 'll be introducing a Features section in which we'll publish profiles of
Damsels In Success and articles focused on professional advancement/ development.
Over time, we'll be introducing additional tools and features designed to take your
experience on the site to another level.
Thanks again for visiting. We hope you come back often to read, contribute, and
seek your professional bliss. Let the movement begin... It's 2008, and it's time
to be in the company of professional women who are dedicated to making the contribution
they were born to make.
